Year 2 had a lovely time at Layer Marney Tower getting first hand experience of what it was like to live in Elizabethan times. We visited the tower which Elizabeth I actually visited herself in 1579 when she was the queen. We climbed the 99 steps to the top and looked at the rooms where the queen stayed. We tried on the heavy metal armour that her knights would have worn when they were fighting in battles and we learned how to use a bow to shoot arrows at the enemy.
After lunch we danced round the maypole and played some games from Elizabethan times. Then we found out what school was like in those days and had a go at writing with a quill and ink. It was a very busy but enjoyable day!
