Investigating states of matter.

September 20, 2021

Today’s question for science,

What state of matter is water? The answer, not so easy! Year 4 investigated how a solid can become a liquid by the process called ‘melting’. Water can be a liquid, but it can also be a solid. Perhaps in a few weeks, we might discover if it can be a gas?

Not all solids can melt, but we were able to name some that do. We also noted that if more heat is present, the melting process is quicker. Next week, we are going to plan our own investigations into melting to see what else can speed up the melting process.
