Year 1's special visitors!

May 13, 2019

In science Year 1 have been learning about the different types of animals there are in the world. We learnt about mammals, reptiles, amphibians and fish.

This afternoon we had some special visitors come to our classroom so we could look at them and see how they were the same and different.

Bernie the tortoise came to see us. We knew that he was a reptile and had a go at touching his hard shell. Some of us were even brave enough to hold him!

We also had Spud the guinea pig come to our class. He was a mammal, we touched his smooth hair and watched him eat some broccoli.

Mr Nigh bought us in Melvin the mackeral from Tesco and we all got to look at his scales. We touched his gills and look at his tail and how his body moves to help him swim.

We had some trouble finding an amphibian to look at, so instead we looked through some books and did some colouring in of amphibians.

We all had a great time!
