Last week the police came to visit us in Year 5.
The purpose of the visit was to help the children feel more comfortable with the police so that – if they ever need them for any reason – they will feel confident in turning to a police officer for help; They do not want the children to feel scared of them. I think it is safe to say that this aim was achieved.
We were introduced to all the equipment that a police officer carries on them or wears, including radios, body cams and batons. Then the children had lots of fun exploring a range of equipment from metal detectors to speed guns, which they had great fun using to time how fast they could run! They got to wear some items of police uniform and also go in the back of a police van!
