The Inclusion Team

The role of the Inclusion Team is to ‘Bridge the Gap’ for children underachieving due to Social, Emotional and Behavioural difficulties.

One to one mentoring to discuss difficulties and find solutions:

  • Individual sessions focusing on specific issues such as attendance
  • Anger Management courses
  • Bereavement Therapy
  • Reflection book
  • Drawing and Talking Therapy
  • Overcoming Anxiety programme
  • Relaxation Therapy
  • Access to counselling

Promoting and supporting extra–curricular activities:

  • Supporting transition from KS1 to KS2 or to secondary school
  • Supporting in accessing after-school clubs

In class support as part of a structured programme of assistance:

  • Supporting staff to promote consistent management of pupils
  • One-to-one reading

Support with homework, coursework, study or organisational skills:

  • Homework support
  • The Thinking Child extra homework
  • Transition books

Pupil observations to support assessment of need:

  • Emotional literacy assessment using the Boxall profiling tool

Group work to promote positive social interaction:

  • Drop in sessions during break times
  • Nurture groups
  • Circle Time
  • Smart Thinking
  • PACS (Positive, Assertive, Confidence Skills courses)

Liaising with parents, staff and outside agencies for the benefit of the child:

  • Consistent Management Plans (CMPs)
  • Family Learning
  • Home School diaries
  • Individual Provision Plans (IPPs)
  • Parent support through referral processes
  • Behaviour charts
  • Reward schemes
  • Circle of Friends
  • Mediation

The school uses a structured referral system for all children that can be initiated by all members of the school staff, concerned parents and the children.
